Geordy Murphy
Partner, Hospitality Pro Search

Geordy Murphy, partner in Hospitality Pro Search, is a tenured professional in the hospitality industry. From concept developer and
restaurant GM to corporate chef and marketing director, Murphy has been lead executive in a number of the country’s most prominent restaurants and bars.

From 1979-1983, Murphy was with Club Corporation of America, responsible for opening the Plaza Club in Honolulu and later, Canyon Creek Country Club, Texas. Murphy served as Director of Marketing and Management for Studebaker’s of America, the ‘50s, rock‘n’roll-themed bar with locations in the United States and Japan.

For the better part of his career, Murphy has been point person in creating and operating some of the country’s leading eateries, including Wolfgang Puck’s Postrio, which he built and opened, to Kuleto’s, a fine-dining Italian restaurant. In 1992, Murphy put his talents and experience to work to create his own concept, Geordy’s Restaurant, San Francisco. Esquire magazine recognized Geordy’s as a Ten Best New Restaurants of America in 1994 and The New York Times named it one of the Four Best Restaurants in San Francisco. From 1996-2000, Murphy was COO and co-founder of Long Life Noodle Company, a popular casual concept that grew to six stores and $7.2 million in annual revenue. One of Murphy’s most memorable experiences as an executive chef was helping Russell Siu from 3660 On The Rise, cook at the prestigious James Beard House in New York City. They prepared dinner on a Friday for more than 100 diners, and Sunday Brunch for 85. It was such a success they were invited to return.

In 2001, Murphy joined friend and colleague Gary Turner and started Hospitality Pro Search, an executive search firm. Clients include Houston’s, Hard Rock Café, Bubba Gump Shrimp Company and Cracker Barrel.
